A rainy day, painful joints and a Christmas channel was the order of the day. I enjoyed the rest. This afternoon I explored ‘the castle’ a home previously owned by A man called Gurney who was an inventor and now has exhibitions, local history and a cafe. I had a GF scone with clotted cream; yum. I found information on Pamela Colman Smith who was the illustrator for the famous Rider Waite Smith tarot deck in 1909. She signed every illustration except ‘the fool’. Pamela was born in 1878 and came to live in Bude in 1942. She is buried in St Michael and all Angels Church in an unmarked grave. I visited the church up on the hill. It has a beautiful old graveyard, amazing stained windows and a nice energy.
